Im an online retailer that just got hit with a wave of customers claiming that their packages are missing. We havent been requiring signatures due to carriers just signing for packages themselves and leaving them. They were all marked "delivered" to the correct addresses on tracking but the customers state the packages are gone. I see lots of conflicting information online about who is responsible for packages stolen after delivery.
We are a small business (~$250k/month in revenue) with thin margins and we have been hit hard with fraud this year. The missing items range in price from $50-250. What would you do in this situation? How are you guys handling stolen/missing packages that are marked delivered?
