US retailer Target have set their sights on Amazon, with the launch of a two-day sale event called Target Deal Days which will run in parallel with the marketplace’s Prime Day.
The retailer have set the dates to be in line with the Prime Day, beginning on Monday, 15th of July and until 16th July. Target promises to shoppers with new deals every day across categories including home, apparel, toys and more, including national brands on their website and the app.
Target say that the two-day sale would require “no membership” to shop for “red hot online sales.”
This sentiment has been echoed by eBay today as they announced the introduction of eBay Crash Sale on the 15 July, mirroring the Amazon Prime Day launch date in a battle for shoppers’ wallets. The brave move will see the two companies directly competing for shoppers’ attention with their sale events equivalent to Amazon Prime Day.
“This year, we’re giving guests more discounts across even more of our assortment with two days to save on hundreds of thousands of items and offering the best options in retail for delivery and pick up on their terms, including same-day.”
– Target
This news shows the increased competition in the ecommerce field as businesses aren’t shying away from making bold statements directed against their rivals. Businesses are willing to go to new lengths to aggressively discount in order to win the market share.
